(Be sure to be preprared for loads of pictures!)
Last friday I was with Rosalie at an event from Creative life in Utrecht. You already read it in the name, it’s all about the creative stuff here! I spotted it on a post in Instagram and got tickets right away, I’m really happy to have done that, because this day was amazing!
I’d love to show you what I made, bought and have done this day.
Yes made, because here there were not only shops that made me very excited, much brands also organised workshops! There were workshops for handlettering, graffiti or as example how to make a leather pencil case.
We did two workshops. For much workshops you have to sign up first, but there were also much were you could just sit at the table when there was room.
The night before the event I found out you had to sign up and I did with some, but almost all of them were full. So a tip if you are ever thinking of going here, check the website and sign yourself up to be sure to have a seat!
The first thing we did was a workshop from Rozijntjes. Here we made a leather pencil case that I’m in love with and i’m really glad we were able to attend!
During the workshop we chose a piece of leather to use. We could also have a kind of strap on the pencil case, but we had to make those from the same leather we chose and Rosalie and I didn’t want to have it the same colour. So we switched our straps, I now have a camel pencil case with a bordeaux red strap, and Rosalie a camel strap on it! This workshop was €15.
Later that afternoon we splitted up to do two workshop at the same time from the same brand. She did one where you could decorate a teacup just the way you want to with markers, I did the same, but then with a small pottery (I don’t know the right word haha) vase. Now I have a cute small vase when I find some flowers on my walks! This workshop was €5
Like I said, there were so much nice little shops here! If you know me, you know that I ran right away the papergoodies and bought much of those!
So first thing I ran into in the same “street” as the workshop pencil case, was the shop from Miekinvorm.nl. She sells very cute prints, cards and other things. I bought two washi tapes and three small inspirational cards.
At Gewoon Jip I bought a book, a workbook to be more specific. “Alles kan als ik dat wil” ~ “I can do everything if I want to” is the name and it’s a workbook to help you realize your dreams and actually make work of it. I already started a bit in this book, I really like these kinds of books to educate myself and just to have something on paper to write on!
Lastly I walked in the shop from Handwritten. Literally because it’s the only stand where you can walk into and be somewhere else for a moment. It’s a very cute place with a big message. Here I had a very nice conversation with the owner. We talked about journals and the beauty of writing on paper, something I like to write about here! I bought a notebook, and with my purchase also a kid in a developing country (or third world country) also get’s one!
This day I did so many things, next to the buying, making and walking in and out all the pretty stands there were also much places to buy food or coffee. There was a kind of lounge in the middle of the event and here I took a masterclass by Karin from Paperfuel. She made the book “Handlettering How it’s done!” and has a really creative and original way of handlettering. Not really something I want to make myself I guess, but I do love it to see and read it!
So here she talked about how she started and what we are going to see from her in the future. There was much room to ask questions and we talked with all about the different kinds of handlettering and writing. It really was very nice to be around a table with people who likes to be creative and want to learn more about it!
We also got a small goodiebag with two of her pretty designs on postcards.
This day was like I mentioned before, amazing. I got so many good vibed out of this and it inspired me even more to do what I’m already doing!
Have you ever heard about Creative life or have you also been here last weekend?
Much love, Joy
